Why are so many Christians so proud that their Bible is a translation of a Greek version? - knox translation bible download

The reader will note that the translators often vary considerably in their versions of the same place. Often it simply means a difference of opinion in their understanding of the meaning of the original text. In other cases, however, the difference may be due to the fact that explains the translator does not do the same text. Version Monsignor Ronald Knox, for example, on the basis of the Vulgate, and George N. Lamsa translated the Aramaic text. All other versions are based on the Greek text, but sometimes Greek manuscripts show significant variations. When this happens, any translator must decide for themselves that reading is closer to the original. "A translator of the Scriptures," said Henry Alford, "have absolutely Colo.rless, ready to sacrifice the flower of the text, and the clearest proof of the doctrine, when the words do not, which met with his conscience as a witness of God compelled.
